We would like to point out the article in “ReDesigning the Workplace” published in Il Sole 24 Ore of 24 May 2022, with an interview with the ASP director Emilio Paolucci, on the ASP project New Normal, aimed at investigating which could be the new workplace paradigm after the Covid-19 spread worldwide.
Mylia (The Adecco group) presents the white paper “Re-Designing the Workplace” which provides an analysis of the impact of the pandemic on the reorganization of workplaces, and talks about the experience of designing the new AstraZeneca headquarters, in collaboration with ASP-Alta Scuola Politecnica and Cariplo Factory.
The approach devised in collaboration by Mylia, Cariplo Factory and ASP-Alta Scuola Politecnica is that of Open Innovation to exploit and virtuously contaminate experiences, ideas and resources, as we are already beginning to see the first features of the workplace of the future, influenced by the new hybrid way of working and the strong digitalization of work, both in company offices and in remote ones.
The design process, in addition to open innovation, has put the workers at the center. As Emilio Paolucci, director of ASP-Alta Scuola Politecnica explains, after the pandemic, work spaces must be remodeled and made more flexible to facilitate working relationships, respecting the needs of staff and the organizational needs of companies.
Enrico Noseda, chief innovation advisor of Cariplo Factory affirms that the pandemic has dramatically accelerated the need for innovation and confirmed that open innovation is now a mature and functional tool for business transformation priorities. The design path of the new spaces of AstraZeneca was born precisely from an open innovation project, which was able to enhance the skills of all the players involved. Habits and needs of companies and professionals have thus changed due to the strong use of remote work since, today, the 76% of workers believe the mix between office work and remote work the best solution to adopt in postpandemic times and the 80% of workers want to keep more flexibility and a good work-life balance.
For Roberto Pancaldi, managing director of Mylia, the physical workspace retains a fundamental role today, but the changes in the pandemic phase have changed its forms and significance, highlighting how it can be, now as never, an irreplaceable place of relationships, innovation and contamination, in an inclusive and multidisciplinary logic.
